APC August 2018 Forum: Ticks
Join us for the APC Forum “Ticks: Facts, Fictions & the Unknowns”
East Hampton, New York – The mission of the Accabonac Protection Committee (APC) is to protect, enhance and restore the ecological integrity of Accabonac Harbor and its watershed. As part of that mission, the APC will present a public forum on Ticks: Facts, Fictions & the Unknowns, to take place at Ashawagh Hall on August 20, 2018. The forum will feature presentations by three expert panelists on:
- The science and biology of ticks — Dr. Tamson Yeh, Cornell Cooperative Extension
- The medical science of tick-borne disease — Dr. Anne Marie Wellins, Advisory Panel of The Regional Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital
- Eco-friendly and chemical tick controls — Sean O’Neal, Peconic Baykeeper and pesticide expert
The presentations will be followed by a Q&A with the audience.
Moderator: Zach Cohen of the Suffolk County Tick Control Advisory Committee
Question moderators: Edwina von Gal and Dr. Christine Ganitsch
In addition, infection prevention specialist Rebecca Young, RN, BSN will be available to answer individuals’ questions at a Tick Info Table at the forum. She is a member of The Regional Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.
The Forum on Ticks: Fact, Fiction and the Unknown will take place at Ashawagh Hall in Springs on August 20. It will begin with refreshments at 5:30pm, to be followed by the panel at 6pm and the Q&A.
