Board Member Search
On May 16, our president, Patrice Dalton, informed us that she was leaving our organization after four years of exemplary service. During her tenure, the organization initiated an unprecedented program of community education as well as extensive cooperation with several governmental and environmental organizations to monitor and improve Accabonac Harbor. The results have been impressive. The waters of the Harbor are being monitored extensively. Sources of pollution have been identified. With our encouragement, the Town has purchased a number of properties on the Harbor and turned them into Nature Preserves, thereby preventing or eliminating polluting septic systems.
To continue these impressive results, we need to recruit new Board members with an array of talents and a commitment to continue to protect and improve the Harbor. The Board meets quarterly, and as needed, typically in person and via Zoom. We are looking for Board members who will plan and participate in occasional forums and other events in which we inform community members about recent developments about the health of the Harbor.
We know that you are concerned about our environment and hope that you are willing to translate that concern into meaningful action through participation in the Accabonac Protection Committee.
If you’re interested and would like to discuss it further, please email us at accabonacprotection@gmail.com or text Board member, Nick Bryan, at 917-225-4145. We are eager to hear from you. Please respond by July 1 if possible.
Yours truly,
Nicholas Bryan, Treasurer
