APC 2024 Welcome Letter
Happy 2024! We look forward to working with all of you this year in our efforts to preserve the integrity of the Accabonac..
In conjunction with the theme “What you do on your property matters”, we are partnering with the Perfect Earth Project this spring in a session to provide information and resources regarding environmentally-friendly lawn care. We’ll be at the Springs Presbyterian Church on April 20th from 1 to 5. As the date approaches, we will be in touch with more information.
The Springs Historical Society and Community Library’s annual Arts and Archives will highlight the Native Americans who once lived in and around Accabonac Harbor. The event will be held in September.
If anyone has photographs of Accabonac Harbor past and [or] present, the Historical Society would like to display them. They will be sure to give credits for the pictures and photographers. The photos do not need to be professional quality. If you do submit a photo, they would appreciate as much information about the photo as possible (year, activity, names of people). The photographs or copies may be dropped off at the Springs Library or sent to Deanna Tikkanen by text 631-375-0616 or email to the library Springslibrary1@outlook.com attention Buddy or Deanna.
Finally, we are looking for new board members. We have an ambitious agenda for 2024 and we would welcome anyone who is interested in joining us in our continuing quest to protect and preserve the Accabonac. To discuss possible board membership, contact me, Len Rubin, at leonard.rubin@gmail.com or 917-209-6175.
We also appreciate any financial support that you can give us to further our mission. This can be done by going to our site – accabonac.org – or by mailing directly to us at PO Box 4058 East Hampton, NY 11937.
Every season in the harbor is glorious, winter included. So, take a walk out on Gerard Drive or to Louse Point and enjoy the beauty!
Best,
Len Rubin
