Health of Accabonac Harbor: Thank you and Next Steps!
Thanks to all who participated in the Health of the Harbor Forum. We really appreciated the excellent presentations from Trustees John Aldred and Francis Bock, and from the Town of East Hampton Department of Natural Resources’ Kim Shaw and Samantha Klein.
If you missed the Forum, it will be on LTV — thank you to LTV for filming and making it available.

And our sincerest appreciation to all attendees for joining us. The next forum is July 17th. We look forward to seeing you then!
Next Steps: Water quality test results for the week of June 3 and June 10 show High Bacteria in Pussy’s Pond — Pussy’s Pond already measured 327 on June 10, it was 318 on June 3. These data suggest that Pussy’s Pond needs intensive monitoring and remediation. Note that Entero levels above 104 are considered a risk to human health. It is often due to heavy rains, extreme high tides and/or warm water temperatures.
See the data below for comparison to nearby areas, the majority of which have materially lower levels of bacteria present.
Pussy’s Pond 327 High Bacteria
Three Mile Harbor: Folkstone Drive <10 Low Bac.

Many thanks to Concerned Citizens of Montauk (CCOM) for their awesome work sampling for Entero Bacteria and Harmful Algae Blooms (HAB) throughout East Hampton. This will be performed weekly throughout the summer.
